SEA Water is a Certified B Corp™

23 Apr 2026

The result of a year of commitment, hard work, and genuine change across every part of our company.

B Corps are companies verified by B Lab to meet standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. The certification looks across the entire business – not just one department, one product, or one initiative – to ensure impact is embedded throughout.

As part of the process, we made a legal commitment: SEA Water exists to serve all stakeholders, not only shareholders. We’re in business to bring positive impact to people and planet. And our shareholders agree.

It’s a badge we’re proud of, and a community we’re glad to be part of. But it also feels like recognition of what we’ve been striving to do all along. B Corp™ was a way to verify that the way we do business actually lives up to the positive impact we’re aiming for.

That we’re not just selling a story, but building something that holds up to scrutiny.

This wasn't about ticking boxes. We wanted to know, honestly, whether the way we run this business holds up to scrutiny. And that it reflects what makes SEA, SEA. B Corp provided the platform to do that.

We scored highest in the environmental impact category.

Given our clear focus on using fewer resources, renewable energy, and a circular economy, that felt like a win in itself.

We also received two Impact Business Models. That’s B Lab’s way of recognising that we’ve intentionally designed our business to create positive outcomes. One for our resource conservation: using less (fresh)water, less CO2, generating less waste, and sending less to landfill by choosing aluminium – one of the most recyclable materials on the planet. Our exclusive use of renewable energy earned us a second IBM on its own.

The standards are changing – and so are we

From this year, B Lab has updated its certification standards. The new framework moves away from points toward something more demanding: minimum compliance criteria that every company must meet, with no option to pick the easy wins. Companies must also demonstrate continuous improvement at years three and five. Showing they’ve moved meaningfully forward since year zero.

We’re glad we got to experience both standards. And we support the robustness of the new. Forcing us, and our peers, to be better.

This certification isn’t a finish line. It’s a compass.

B Corp™ gives us a baseline, direction, and connects us to people who give a damn.

But B Corp™ is one piece of the puzzle.

I'm genuinely excited to see where this takes us and how we can use this foundation to create even more positive impact. Here in the Netherlands, but also for people in places across the globe where clean water is anything but guaranteed.
