When tap water fails, SEA Water steps in

10 Jun 2026

Bacteria in the pipes meant two neighbourhoods lost their water. We brought SEA to fill the gap.

Last week, residents of Schoorlstraat and part of Werengouw in Amsterdam-Noord couldn’t drink their tap water. Waternet found enterococci bacteria in the pipes. Their advice was to boil it for three minutes or skip it entirely.

Dutch tap water is among the best in the world. That’s precisely why no one thinks about it – you turn the tap on and clean, infinite water is always there.

Until it isn’t.

Our office is a few minutes away, so we brought a pallet of SEA Water to the neighborhood. Free water, no boiling required. Because access to clean drinking water should never be a luxury moment.

This is why we believe in what we do. We’re not replacing the tap – we’re creating options. Multiple sources, not dependence on one. In Amsterdam, that meant a week of backup. Globally, it means resilience.

Dutch tap water is a gift. This week, Amsterdam-Noord was reminded of that.
